Bible Study
A while ago, I started the Patriarchs Bible study by Beth Moore. I got a little slowed down by doing another Bible study with a local church, and then with our move in November, I never got to finish the last 2 sections. (yes, only tow- I really should have made more of an effort) But as we were unpacking boxes this weekend, I found the book. So my goal this week is to re-read all the previous sections to refresh my memory, and then finish the series. Anyway, I wasn't typing all that to just let you know what a slacker I am. It was just interesting to me how I let other things get in the way of finishing that study. Other studies, duties, and more snuck in between me and that study time with God. Then I got to thinking how often that happens in my life. I can start something and soon there is something else that needs my attention at that moment, and the rest is forgotten. Could it be that my mommy memory is out the door, or is this an attack on my soul and mind that is seeking our God? I know that when I start my day with God, I do better and when I have my study time somewhere in the day, I feel better. When I don't -I find myself being short with everyone and messing up on everything. Is anyone else out there like me- or am I just plain old weird? Anyway I want to challenge all of you (and myself) to strive everyday to spend that moment with God, whether it be a long time or a short "stolen moment" to seek Him in your day. It can make a world of difference in your life and in others.

Good reminder, Marie. Thanks.
Okay... are you reading my mind? :) Because I so identify with you my friend! It's like I know so well the benefits of spending time with our Lord, for me and for my family, and yet there are so many days when it does not happen. And I only have one rugrat to chase around, I can only imagine with three :) Thanks for letting us all know and be reminded we're not alone in the fight!
Hey Marie-- Thanks so much for the advice on my blog. I thought I'd trot over here and read some good stuff. And I'm so glad I did b/c I've been looking to do a Beth Moore book, but have been at a loss as to where to start. The Patriarchs actually stood out to me, but I wanted to do it with other ladies and wasn't sure if such a topic would be as intriguing to them as it is to me. What have you thought of the study? Or any other Beth Moore studies you'd recommend?
Thanks!
Hey r-liz! Glad you stopped by! I have honestly loved The Patriarchs. I also did Daniel- that is a tough one but really good. It takes you through the end times and it got a little confusing to me toward the end. That one I would suggest doing with a group. The Patriarchs was easy for me to do on my own, and there were some connections it brought out that I hadn't seen before. She also has Breaking Free and Believing God. I haven't done them, but they are on my list to do. I would wait on A Woman's Heart- Gods Dwelling Place. She is re-doing that one and it should be out I think with in the next year. I have never heard of a Beth study going bad. She is VERY thorough and a great teacher. She teaches in a way that no man ever will (to women anyway- I think) :)I hope I can do more in a group setting- you get added benefits of talking to others about what you learned and what stood out to you. Good luck with them. Too bad we aren't in the same state- I'd be in your group!
Thanks, Marie. That's very helpful.
And, yes, my husband and I did go to HU. Graduated in 2000. Did you get married at HU, or after? We married before our senior year. My maiden name is Ruthie Nelson, married is Knowles.
I thought I recognized you and your husband. I graduated in Dec 2001. I married Matt my senior year- I use to be an Anderson.
Hey... I really like the green, suites you I think!
