This Early?
While we were in NY, Riley started showing signs of wanting to start potty training. I kept noticing that she would pat her diaper or tell me she was wet or dirty when she had gone. So when we got home I pulled out the little potty so she could see it and get use to it. Well she LOVES it! Every day she wants to sit on it and will sit for over 10 min. She even cries when I take her off. The other day she actually went #2 in the potty and I think it scared her at first, but then she got really excited. It is weird for me to be doing this at 18 months. The boys never really started until 2 1/2 or later. But we are trying it. The bad thing is they don't make pull-ups in her size, so we will have to stick to diapers for a while. Do girls really start this early or is this just the warm up to the big thing?

Mine was two when she started and was trained by the time she was two and a half and the baby was born. We just got the potty out again and she sits on it but doesn't go yet.
Try the Pampers Feel and Learn (I think that is what they are called.) Ainsley needed a small size, as well, and those worked for her. They came in a smaller size than I could find the pullups in. They don't work very well at night, though.
Riley is really cute! Thanks for the pic!
Thanks Corrie- I hadn't even thought about those. I will have to pick some up and try them. Was it pretty easy training Ainsley?
Grace started at 18 months and was in full big girl panties by her second birthday...of course, we had to go back to pull ups for about 1 month when her little sister was born, but it was pretty quick transitioning....sometimes they are smarter than we give them credit for and then of course, other times they just like to sit on the little potty and read just like mommy and daddy!! he he he
How very true Jenn! I didn't want to push it since it was pretty early. Caleb (my oldest) showed signs at 18 months but then when I tried , quit till he was 2 1/2. So I didn't want to do that with Riley. I hope it goes as smoothly with Riley as it did for you with Grace!
I hope training AJ is a little easier than training his dad!! ;0)
I can't wait for that moment. Right now I'm just excited that he gets his shoes when I ask him. He actually is understanding what I say. What miracles they truly are!!!!!
vail started wanting to sit on the potty around 16 months. we are still working on it but she pretty much always goes #2. haven't changed her poopy diapers in i don't know how long. i will have to give those feel and learns a try.
